Recommendations

These are all the products that I actually use and fully recommend to anyone wanting top quality gear that really performs. Whilst some products might be on the high end of your budget, you can guarantee you’ll be getting the best of the best! Don’t faff about with the long process of returning numerous pieces of kit, get it right the first time and get the real deal!

Sennheiser PC 350 Stereo Headset

I’ve had these for a couple of months and they are by far the best headset I’ve ever used, and I’ve been through quite a few in my time.  The positional sound is quality, I am able to pin point where the enemy is coming from all the time which is obviously important in games like Counter Strike!

QPAD MK-85 Mechanical Keyboard

I was very sceptical of switching over to a mechanical keyboard at first. I did a lot of research into what kind of mechanical keyboards there are available and this one sounded the best for my needs. It has red cherry switches which still give you that tactile feedback but are a lot quieter than the very loud blue switches – this is great as I don’t disturb people in the room next door when up late gaming.

I actually had to send the keyboard back because it was the wrong language (Silly Amazon) so I am testament that the difference between rubber domes and mechanical keys really is night and day! I found things so clunky and unsatisfying when going back to my traditional Logitech keyboard.

Steel Series Surface QcK Heavy

This is pretty much of a no brainer purchase. Every PC gamer should have one of these mouse pads, especially if you are a FPS gamer. The amount of space you get to play with is phenomenal and will allow you to flick on to your targets at very low sensitivities! Just make sure you have enough room on your desk to place it.

ZOWIE EC1 Gaming Mouse

I needed a new mouse for a very long time, in the past I just stuck with a standard palm grip Microsoft mouse and it honestly did the job. I always wanted a mouse with the two side buttons on the left so I could bind them to my flashbang/smoke. I tried out a lot of mice at LAN on one of the showcases and the Zowie EC1 stood out to me in particular. I already had people recommending it to me in random discussions so eventually I took the plunge and bought it.

When it first arrived I was slightly concerned with its size but I soon got used to it and it now seems normal. What I absolutely love about the EC1 though is its palm grip structure, you really get the feeling that you are totally in control of its movement. The scroll wheel actually has tactile feedback meaning you can actually tell when you click it in or scroll up or down. It’s such a great mouse and I am more than pleased with my purchase.

RODE PODCASTER Microphone

This is probably the most expensive investment I have made doing this whole ‘YouTube thing’ but I am more than satisfied with what I got. With having to do commentary in all my videos I want to make sure it is of the highest quality. I used to use just a standard microphone from my Creative Fatality headset but that lacked some sort of bass and I was told I should take a look at a condenser microphone. RODE are pretty much the top of the field in home studio microphones and this their Podcaster mic is no exception.

It comes with a guaranteed 10 year warranty which is absolutely amazing and, with all the other gear attached, really looks the part. I had problems with other microphones in the past such as the Blue Snowball, they didn’t pick up the sound correctly unless I was talking with my mouth right up against it. There were no such problems with RODE Podcaster, just plug it in via USB let Windows 7 install all the drivers and you are ready to go!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone doing any sort of professional audio work, it’s bloody fantastic!

RODE PSA1 STUDIO BOOM ARM

This a great little product that pairs up with my RODE microphone. It’s basically a flexible arm that clamps to my desk which allows me to move the microphone anywhere I want whilst sitting in my chair. So this means I don’t have to be bent over a stand alone mic whilst doing a voice over. It’s very well built and I expect nothing less from a company like RODE.

RODE Podcaster MIC SHOCK MOUNT

This is the third part that I purchased along with my RODE microphone and boom. It’s a shock mount that stops any vibrations that may occur during recording to be filtered out. It does a great job and helps me ensure that I always get a high quality recording with no interruptions!

Logitech C910 HD Webcam

This is probably the best webcam on the market right now, it displays everything in crystal clear 1080p and I’ve not had a single problem with it ever! It latches on to the back of my monitor very easily and just does what is supposed to do.  It has also has auto focus so when you want to show something like your iPhone on cam for example, it will focus in on the iPhone and you’ll get a very clear image.
